Glinka Ruslan & Ludmila Overture (arr. Sudbin)

Yevgeny Sudbin gives a performance of powerfully emotive piano music from some of the greatest composers ever to have composed for the instrument. Each item on the programme tells its own story, from Haydn’s dramatic Sonata with its toe-tapping finale, to Tchaikovsky’s plaintive Dumka and Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit, with each of its movements based on poetry by Aloysius Bertrand. Yevgeny will also perform his own arrangement of the overture from Glinka’s Ruslan & Ludmila.

Sponsored by Mary Roche, Festival Private Patrons and Mrs Frances Yorke, in memory of Michael Yorke, former vicar of St Margaret’s
