The King’s Lynn Players proudly present Alan Bennett’s moving and disquieting but equally brilliantly funny play, The History Boys. Staff room rivalry, and the anarchy of adolescence provoke insistent questions about history and how to teach it and about education and its purpose. Set in the 1980s in a state school where the headmaster is keen to get more pupils into Oxford and Cambridge to compete with other schools and raise its profile. It follows eight bright boys who stay on for another year to sit scholarship exams taught by Hector who refuses to be corseted to the English curriculum, and new teacher Irwin, who is determined to get them through the exams at all cost.
Contains strong language and mature themes.
