Frank Bruno MBE is the UK’s best loved boxer.

He fought in an era when 1 belt was the one to win. The opponents were all worldwide known heavy hitters. His most famous bout was in 1989 against Mike Tyson. It was billed as UK V USA, and even non boxing fans were cheering on Frank.

Sadly his loss disappointed boxing fans, but Frank carved out a career as an entertainer alongside his boxing career it was said after Princess Diana, Frank was the most popular person in the UK.

In 1995 his boxing career reached its pinnacle when Frank won the World Championship against Oliver McCall.

It was to only last a few months as he lost his crown again to Mike Tyson.

Bruno scored 38 knockouts in 40 wins, giving him a 95% knockout-to-win ratio; his overall knockout percentage was 84.44%. Bruno was ranked among BoxRec's 10 best heavyweights in the world twelve times, reaching his career-high ranking of world no. 3 at the conclusion of 1984

After he retired from Boxing Frank continued in the entertainment business constantly on TV and taking up pantomime.

In 2003 Frank had a mental Health breakdown followed by 4 others which have dogged his life for many years. He decided to talk openly about his problems and became a mental health campaigner.

His mental health charity now helps 1000 people a month.
