In Memoriam Joan Marchbank

Concerts given in aid of the peddar's Way Ward, the recently-opened End-of-Life Suite at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn.

Music by bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

Raphael Wallfisch (cello)

Raphael Wallfisch is one of the most celebrated cellists performing on the international stage. He was born in London into a family of musicians, his mother the cellist Anita Lasker-Wallfisch and his father the pianist Peter Wallfisch. He was inspired to take up the cello at an early age and, after a succession of fine teachers, he finished his studies with the great Russian cellist, Gregor Piatigorsky in California. At the age of 24, he won the Gaspar Cassado International Cello Competition in Florence, and has since enjoyed a world-wide career. He has recorded many of the concertos written for the cello, especially those by British composers.

Allan Schuller (piano)

After a debut at the age of 10 with the Halle Orchestra under Sir John Barbirolli, and a performance at the Edinburgh Festival a year later, Allan became the first British student to gain a scholarship to the Moscow Conservatoire. His career includes concerto appearances with all the major British orchestras and hundreds of BBC broadcasts as recitalist and chamber musician, as well as numerous recordings. He has recently published his memoir of a life on the concert platform ‘Music Made Me’ and was awarded the B.E.M. for his services to music and charity.
