Mercury-nominated folk singer, BBC Radio 4 broadcaster, soundtrack composer, and environmentalist, Sam Lee has shaken up the music scene, breaking boundaries between traditional and contemporary music.
Sam’s compelling album, Songdreaming, released March 2024, is another bold step in his artistic journey. Working again with producer Bernard Butler and long-term collaborator James Keay, Songdreaming adds new layers to his music with a global sweep of instruments and sounds. The album underscores his commitment to evolving his music beyond traditional folk boundaries while still nurturing a connection to the themes of nature and human experience.
Sam uses his music and public presence to advocate for environmental causes and his dedication to the natural world extends to involvement with organisations like Music Declares Emergency and Right 2 Roam, of which he is a founder member. Similarly, he holds the acclaim of being one of the first to join EarthPercent, which helps touring artists and music organisations pledge a percentage of their income to climate-related causes.
On Thursday July 17th, 8pm, Sam will be playing songs from his critically-acclaimed album, Songdreaming, a gorgeous work that The Guardian awarded 5-stars.
