Character and storytelling abound in this quintessentially English songbook from celebrated baritone Roderick Williams and duo partner pianist Iain Burnside. Traversing landscapes of memory, war, and nature this meticulously curated programme centres on the "Dymock Poets" and their contemporaries, featuring cherished works by Vaughan Williams, Gurney, and Howells alongside the pastoral wit of Rhian Samuel's animal sketches. From the haunting bugle calls of wartime to Whitman's transcendental verse, this recital captures the emotional vocabulary of a golden era in British composition.
